Privacy Policy · Updated 22 September 2026

Who this policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains how RoaDRain for Windows handles information when you use its Road and Watershed modules, request a license or contact support. RoaDRain is developed and provided by Amin Rostami under the Hydroism name. Privacy enquiries can be sent to hydroism.amin@gmail.com.

Engineering calculations run on your computer. The application does not automatically upload your project files or diagnostic reports to Hydroism. Online maps and data services do receive the requests needed to display or retrieve geographic information, as explained below.

Project files, results and diagnostics

RoaDRain accesses the files and information you choose for a study. These can include road and catchment geometry, coordinates, elevation data, rainfall inputs, project names, engineering notes and attached photographs. It creates calculated results, reports, map images, working files, caches and diagnostic logs on your computer.

Names, notes, photographs and locations may identify people or confidential projects. Only include information you are entitled to process. Local error reports can contain project geometry, coordinates, input settings, source details and technical error messages. Although the application attempts to redact recognized credentials, you should review a diagnostic bundle before sharing it.

Generating or downloading a diagnostic report does not send it to Hydroism. You decide whether to email a report, screenshot or sample project for support. The current desktop release uses local engineering rules for review and design-option comparison; it does not send those inputs to a cloud AI service.

License and purchase information

When you create an activation request, RoaDRain uses the organization or customer name and email address you enter, the application version, a request identifier, a creation timestamp, a hashed device identifier and a device public encryption key. The device identifier is derived locally to bind a license to your computer. Windows protects locally stored license and map credentials for the current user account. The exported request does not include the underlying Windows machine identifier, project files, terrain or reports.

You choose when to export the .rdrequest file and send it to Hydroism. Hydroism uses the information received to issue and renew your license, confirm device entitlements, prevent unauthorized license use and provide support. Purchase correspondence may also contain contact, billing and transaction details you provide. RoaDRain does not collect payment-card details or automatically renew a purchase.

The signed .rdlicense file is verified locally. Routine license checks do not require an online activation account. Keep your license and activation files private and retain a backup for reinstallation.

Online maps and data services

An online map can request map tiles as soon as its screen opens and when you pan or zoom. Terrain downloads, reference checks and report imagery request data for the geographic area or feature being examined. The service receiving a request may see your IP address, requested coordinates or map extent, tile or feature identifiers, request time and technical connection information. Authorized services may also receive an access token required for that service.

Depending on the selected feature and source availability, these services include Esri imagery and geographic data, OpenStreetMap tiles, terrain data providers, GEOGLOWS or TDX-Hydro reference data, and land-cover or surface-water layers. Geographic content may be delivered through the providers’ cloud storage and content-delivery services. These providers operate their own infrastructure and may process connection logs in other countries.

Provider policies include Esri privacy information, the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy and the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Microsoft separately handles Store downloads, installation and updates. Other data sources are identified in the relevant controls, attribution or reports; their own policies apply to requests they receive.

Use local datasets where supported and avoid opening online maps or requesting online data when network disclosure is unsuitable for your project. Disconnecting from the internet prevents these requests, but online maps and data downloads will then be unavailable. Coordinates selected for a study are project locations; the application does not require continuous tracking of your physical location.

How information is used and shared

Hydroism uses information you send for licensing, order administration, responding to your requests, diagnosing reported problems and meeting applicable record-keeping obligations. It does not sell your personal information or use your engineering projects for advertising.

Information sent to Hydroism may be handled by the email, storage and payment service providers used to administer your enquiry or order. Those services receive only information relevant to their role. Information may also be disclosed when legally required or necessary to address fraud or protect legal rights. Project or diagnostic attachments are shared with Hydroism only when you choose to send them; online data requests go to the selected data providers as described above.

Retention and your controls

Projects, working data, caches, downloaded sources and logs are stored in RoaDRain’s local application-data area or in the locations you choose for exported files. They remain until removed by you, the application’s housekeeping or Windows. Uninstalling the Store package can remove package-managed data; copies exported elsewhere and files from earlier installations can remain. Back up important projects, reports and license files before uninstalling or clearing application data.

You can choose the inputs you provide, whether to use online sources, what to export and what to send for support. You can remove a local license through the activation controls and delete local project files or exported copies you no longer need. Removing a local license does not delete purchase records held by Hydroism or automatically revoke other copies.

Hydroism retains licensing, purchase and support records only for as long as needed to provide the service, resolve enquiries and meet applicable legal, accounting or dispute-resolution requirements. To request access, correction or deletion of information held by Hydroism, email hydroism.amin@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity and explain any records that must be retained. Data held independently by Microsoft or another service provider is managed through that provider’s privacy process.

Security

The desktop interface communicates with its local calculation service on your computer. Signed licenses help verify entitlement, and Windows data protection is used for supported local license and credential storage. These protections do not encrypt all project files or exported reports. Protect your Windows account, storage and backups, and use an agreed secure transfer method when sending confidential material for support.

No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security. Do not send private signing keys, API secrets or unnecessary personal information with a support request.

Contact and policy updates

RoaDRain is intended for professional engineering work and is not directed at children. If personal information has been submitted in error, contact Hydroism so the request can be reviewed.

Privacy contact: Amin Rostami / Hydroism, hydroism.amin@gmail.com. This policy will be updated when the application’s information handling changes. The date above identifies the latest revision.
